Within the Barcelona Energy Agency, the Energy Observatory is responsible for planning and monitoring the energy situation in the city. The Observatory obtains information about energy and publishes a regular energy assessment, aside from planning specific short-term initiatives regarding the city's energy and monitoring these initiatives.

The current significance of energy-related issues makes it necessary to have a constant update of information for managing the energy situation. Having city data available and the evolution of these data enables us to rate the energy policies that are implemented in the city and devise lines of action for the future.

For this reason, and to keep the city’s energy information up-to-date, an assessment is published with clearly presented and easy-to-understand data on the city’s energy. The latest version of the assessment was recently published, featuring data from 2014.
