Energia Barcelona

Sun4All is a European project funded by the Horizon 2020 programme, in which the municipalities of Barcelona, Rome (Italy), Cœur de Savoie (France) and Almada (Portugal) are participating. The aim of the programme is to find financial mechanisms that will allow part of the money invested by the municipality in solar photovoltaic systems to be reinvested in families who are in vulnerable situations, or living in vulnerable environments. Access to affordable renewable energy is key to the energy transition, which needs to reach the whole population in order to be fair.

The project is a response to three of the main lines of the Barcelona Climate Emergency Plan: climate change mitigation, climate justice and the promotion of grassroots action, while at the same time aligning with the European Green Deal and Clean Energy for All Europeans packages of measures.

Participants will receive a share in the savings and economic return from the photovoltaic panels installed by the City Council on their roofs, as well as advice and training on energy, energy efficiency and energy management in the home. Furthermore, talks and workshops open to the public on energy and the energy transition will be organised. It is not just about sharing the benefits of solar power generation, but also about saving energy and citizen empowerment.

The project started in 2021 and will have a duration of 2 years. During this time, the goal is to get a minimum of 100 households actively participating in the project (50 each year), and 750 users attending the talks and workshops.
