Subsidy doubled for energy efficiency improvements in homes
A new subsidy call has been launched for home energy efficiency improvements, with the amount rising from 3,000 to 6,000 euros to cover the renewal of windows, improvements to insulation on façades and changes to climate control systems. The amount of the subsidy has been doubled and the documentation requirements simplified to make the procedure more agile.

The Barcelona Housing Consortium has published a new call with subsidies for home energy efficiency improvements. New aspects in this call include the subsidy being doubled, simpler procedures and an overall amount of 10,000,000 euros, half of which comes from EU Next Generation funding and the other half from the municipal coffers.
In an effort to mitigate the effects of climate change and build a more sustainable city, these subsidies are to cover new windows, improvements to insulation on façades and rooftops from inside the building, and the substitution of climate control systems that use fossil fuels with renewable energies instead.
The procedure can be carried out online and the required documentation has been reduced from the twelve existing forms to four.
Who can request the subsidy?
The subsidy can be requested by owners, those with beneficial ownership and tenants, where the homes are their usual permanent residence, with the amount of the subsidy not to exceed the total cost of the investment. Work must be completed before 30 June 2026 and the cost must be equal to or greater than 1,000 euros.
The amount of the subsidy may include the working hours involved, the cost of drafting projects, technical reports, certificates, administrative costs and other similar costs, as long as these are accredited.
Now is the time to renovate
Home renovation projects improve safety, health and sanitation, accessibility, energy efficiency and comfort, also reducing pollutant emissions, saving energy and reducing energy poverty.
From the start of the EU Next Generation programme in 2022 to the end of 2024, nearly 5,000 renovation applications were received for an overall figure of 47.7 million euros in Next Generation funding and 19.6 million in complementary municipal funds.
The goal of the City Council is to be able to renovate 11,640 homes, with work to be completed before 30 June 2026 (the date when the European programme concludes).
